PB CARP
« on: February 15, 2012, 09:33:02 pm »
in 2010 we went for a weekends fishing to the lancaster canal after tench and we had some beuty fish to over 5lb on the waggler and pole but on the sunday we decided to fish a lake called ratherheath tarn in kendall, now this was probrably the nicest looking lake ive ever fished and i was itching to get started on the morning, we actually pitched our tents in the laybye on the side of the road the night before so it was only a short walk to the fishery. my dad and his mate decided to fish in to open water on the waggler but down the edge on one of the pegs just screamed carp to me, i started off fishing with a punched peice of meat 10m down the side, first drop in i hooked something that just dived for the trees that were in the water and it eventually snapped us, next drop in i had a carp that went 12lb, fed a few more peices of meat and had another fairly quickly that went 15lb, my next bite resulted in a beautiful common that weighed 17.10oz, so in the space of about 45mins id caught 3 carp for 6 oz shy of 45lb, ill never forget that day, sat round a stunning lake, caught my personal best carp and what made even more unforgetable, was that our dad and his mate caught nextra fook all. ;D

Sounds like a day made in heaven that does :)

My best carp came to me the first trip after not fishing for a couple of years. I bought a copy of IYCF just out of intrest and there was an artical about fishing the pellet wag so I though I would give it a go. A week or so later and a trip to the tackle shop, I went to Corn Hill as it was a place that had been fishing really well and some good numbers were coming out. I fished the small bridge between on the carp pond with my back to the nursary pond and cast to the island. It was a slow day as the day went by, my float finally sank very slowly. As I struk I realised that maybe the 4lb main line might not have been good enough. 45 minutes later a lovely 11lb 6oz Ghosty was mine.

Not bad for a first day back I dont think.

A Mirror Carp from a private lake, I dont really bother with weighing carp but there was an angler fishing a few pegs down from me with scales who wanted too weigh it for me coz it may be a lake record, anyhow it was 15Ib 9oz. Laccey was fooked.. I think I've caught bigger but never weighed them.
