Hutton Rudby Progress
« on: February 15, 2012, 09:17:17 pm »
Me and Richie had a drive over to Hutton Rudby earlier, mainly to see how the second pond is getting along.....

Quite surprised to find they have made it smaller and it doesnt look to me like it will be finished and stocked anytime in the near future!

should have just left it how it was, lovely looking lake i thought, like airey said just another hole in the ground and i dare say the vast majority of members would reither fish a nice looking lake, not a mud hole filled with water, but having said that i hope they do sort it out and it becomes a success, im gona fish a few of the matches down there this year so ill check it out when im down there, by the way it looks now though, i dont think im gona like it.

Work is still in progress on it, the timber is on site to make the peg platforms, weather conditions have not been the best for the few people who are working there also bushes trees and features don't just appear over night.

theyve still got plenty of time to sort it out yet like and im sure once its all done it will be a nice little water, it will probz take a good few year before its established enough and its matured with all the reed beds and rushes, trees planted and all the rest of it, im just wondering what fish there gona put in it and whether there gona be took from one of the other waters like the resi and put in there, i hope they dont just fill it with little stockies, some tench and crucians would be nice, maybe wack a load of goldfish in it like at forrest lane.

Hello Lads
Some good pic there of the 'new' back pond in it's infancy, some big changes from how people will remember the old back pond.
Work is on going with the starting of a new otter fence and the retaining of the cattle drink the main prioritys (as a cattle drink must be provided as stated in the deeds for the pond). The idea is to plant the island and also plant rushes and lillys in the lake to make 'natural' fish holding area's aswell as cover from any predation. The new pegs will also be getting put in although im not 100% sure of how many as yet! All this is planned for 2012 with the view to stocking in the winter 2012/13, giving the pond chance to settle and any natural life establish itself befor introducing any fish. The stocking time has been recomended by not only the E.A but from the fish farm who the club has used for a number of years. Just to quash any fears, the committee has no plans to move any fish from Marske to aid the stocking of pond 2 at Hutton as the club has already placed a pre-order for the fish for Hutton!
There is another committee meeting on the 23rd of this month and i will try and keep those interested on any new information or progress reports from Hutton informed in this section!

Thanks, Dale.

Nice to know that the rumours of taking stock from Marske aren't true :)

Hi all can anybody say why MAC have kept Hutton ponds as two.one would have kept cost down as the fish in the first pond would have been a natural stocking. One decent size pond is better thah two puddles, just my veiw.Unless they are gona keep the back one purely for silver fish. ie Roach,Rudd, skimmers.would love to fish a pond with no Crap (sorry Carp ) in. :)
