anyone else fishing them this year coz im gona give them a go me like, first ones a few month away yet i was curious as to who off the cabin was gona be fishing them, hopefully the skimmers will be having a good go and the wights might improve from last year, you never know, 32lbs 14oz was the best weight last year and to be honest i think thats a good weight for the resi in 5 hours, but it would be nice to do 50lb in one of them, thats doable i reckon, its 10lb an hour which on a good day anyone could do i think.

50lb in 5 hours , under match conditions , with all pegs taken will be very very difficult on there mate. It would depend on luck , if you got enough bonus fish to bump your weight up. Me n airey have both taken big weights out , but they were helped by the bigger bream .

i can see where yas are coming from there like lads, the average number fishing the matches is only 15 like so its not gona be chocker but if they peg them real tight its alot of presure on one area of the resi and i can see how that will effect the weights, im just hoping the skimmers are still having it this year, i dont see why they shouldnt be.

ive fished the resi matches, and it fishes totally diffrent to what it does when your pleasure fishing, the times ive fished only about 20+ people have taken part, he dont put the corners in so everyones fishing to open water, you have lads on pole, you have lads balling 2 kilos of groundbait in, the 1st match i took part in there i blanked, never had 1 single knock, so dont go expecting big nets, im not saying its impossible,

he doesent put the deep pegs in round the tower does he, i bet they dont fish that well in the summer them, i mean ive never tried them but i dare say the shallow banks are the best best to get a big weight.

Depending on how many are fishing , but on all the matches ive took part in, yes the deepside pegs are put in the bag, Dont right the deep pegs off, the 2nd match i fished in, i won my section off the deep pegs and was 2nd overall

I was tempted with a couple of dates last year, as Sundays are generally better days for me to fish now the missus works Saturday mornings. It never materialised though
Spoke to a bloke last year who's son won in a match off peg 4, so don't think they are a write off
Date dependant, I might do one or two, but to be honest I am happy pleasure fishing, so won't be busting a gut to get there for matches!

i tell you what mate, if theres a chance to get on the river or fish a match at the resi ill be fishing the river all day long but if its possible im gona give em a good go. be nice if a few more lads of the cabin decided to fish em like shaun and airey said they might depending on whats going on, well peg 4s right in front of the tower so he must have been fishing in to some deep water there and i think hes done well to win coz i thought the shallower pegs will have produced bigger weights me like.

Next to my favourite peg - peg 18 !!
Far short side next to the tree is 18 so it's the one after that.
Heard bad things about the matches on there so a lot of regulars don't bother with them. They always try and keep one side clear for pleasure fishers on match days as well.
