Iced over?
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:43:32 pm »
Anyone been up to the resi lately and how badly iced up is it ?

Was thinking about a trip up there on Weds, temps supposed to be up to 8 degrees and no frost until then. Bread feeder i think :)

River was well solid yesterday, only a few clear patches. Although Stockton is always colder than here, temp drops noticeably on the drive through on a morning. (affect of the sea and salt air)

i wont be breaking no more ice down there again like, just dont think its worth it to be honest, spent 45mins breaking a nice pool out last week and didnt get a bite all day, i wont be fishing it till it warms up a touch and the skimmers start feeding, i mean its wort a dafty when its not solid with ice for the roach if you can get them going but its still really hit and miss, if your sat on them in these temps youl get a few but if your not then your wasting your time i reckon, there all shoaled up round the tower and if your in a shallow peg then your proper scraping for bites, roll on the summer when we can all catch 50lb of skimmers, thats all im waiting for, plus im gona fish the matches down there aswell. ;)

Be grateful if anyone's up there before Weds could let me know what it's like.

Enjoyed the last time I went jday, probably 3-4 weeks ago had a few skimmers and a proper one on bread, sun was shining then so was fairly pleasant :/

thats all the resi needs mate at the minuite, a week or two of decent temps during the day and night and the skimmers and roach will be feeding there tits off, maybe not the skimmers as much but catch it on the right day and youll do a nice net of roach.  ;)

Me and Richie are having a ride round on Wednesday now Paul, so if your on the resi we'll be over for a natter at some point.

We're also going to have a trip to Hutton Rudby, see how its looking, as we never had a visit there last year

Pass out sorted for Wednesday. Maggots bought, just sort some bread out tomorrow night and it's all go.

Hoping it's lid free as one of the lads I work with can see the resi from his house and he thinks it's iced over, couple of days of warmer temps should sort it.

dont do what i did a few years back, i got there, and it had thawed out, or so i thought, got all set up, fired me feeder out, got a small splash and then the feeder just bounced n bounced and slid to a complete stop lol, on closer inspection there was around 1" of water on top of the ice......................   DOH!!! :o

I'd be surprised if its still iced over by Wednesday, with the temps we've had for the last couple of days!
And I dont think its due to freeze overnight at all so I reckon you'll be fine mate :)

Me and Richie will be doing our tour of duty, so we'll probably see you at some point Wednesday :)
