Resi 07/01/12
« on: January 07, 2012, 06:19:27 pm »
Slow going today, all 5 who fished found it a struggle (bet you can guess at least 2 of them). Roach roach and more roach, no sign of a skimmer. Ended up a bit too far down tower side for my liking away from deeper water. It was freezing most of the day as well, strong cold wind, still, blew the cobwebs away big style. Might have to go again next weekend :)

Didn't help there was a big shoot going on around it, swamped with hundreds of ducks and shooting brigade cutting around the resi paths with their wellies, barbours and dogs   :o

i was  there friday after the frost and had 30 od roach, had some clonking fish , not a mark on them, fished the pole about two foot of the tower but kept the groundbait going in on the tip and for the last couple of hours the skimmers moved in and ended up with 12 skimmers, biggest not far of a pound, quality days fishing for the resi,. i only forgot the camera so our dad took the pics on his phone, but im having trouble puttin them up, once ive sorted it ill show yas some of the roach i had, easily a pond some of them.

im giving it a nother go tomorow aswell if anyones down, and this time the cameras coming with me.  ;)

I won't be there tomorrow, not allowed 2 days in a row  :'(

Loads of finicky bites today, a knock on the rod tip then nothing, loads of sucked and stretched maggot :/  Afternoon picked up probably because of feeding the swim up, was quite pleasant when the sun came out, didn't last long though.

You'll probably bump into window cleaner ian and kev.

i know your not questioning what ive caught mick, ill just feel better myself once i can post a few pics of what ive had,  i wouldnt go shorter than a foot on the tip paul and id be striking on the slightest little touches, youd be supprised how many of them touches are actually proper bites of the skimmers. you wont get wrap rounds at the resi on the tip even on the lightest of quiver tips, sit on your hands and strike on anything. ;)

Deffo mate go as short as a inch if you have to a foot in cold weather is long on a stillwater they wont charge off with the bait like summer they will hover and suck the life out of em without you even knowing theres fish there paul;)

i think the skimmers and the roach can feel the resistance of the feeder and they shy away from the feeder sometimes, at the resi i change from a fedder to a bomb and it gets me more bites sometimes, i suppose its just how it works out on the day, i always chop and change until i find out what the fish want.

depending on what rig you use ,, they dont have to feel the feeder at all, the first thing they feel is the tip , and if your quick enuf you can get em  ;)

Totally agree with Shaune, if your presentation is correct then as Shaune says they will feel the tip which should be to late.. Fish on ;D ;)
