totally agree with airey, corner peg on alders think its 38 fishing towards airator brings in the barbel, i had no big ones but plenty around the 1lb mark

Doesn't seem right fishing for Barbel on a still :-\ I've caught a few under a pound on the river just trotting Maggots but never a 'proper' one.  Think i'll stick it out on the river.

Yeah I agree. I dint really count the barbel in stills as proper ones. I'm still waiting to catch my first from a river. Hopefully at the end of the month I plan to hit the Swale hoping for my first

i had one about 6lb from firs lake at the oaks fishing tight to the ariator. ariators are obviously a hot spots for them because the ariator will put more oxygen in the water when its turned on and also gives it a bit of flow, the same day my dad was just behind me on oaks lake fishing towards another ariator and was getting one a chuck on paste, only small ones though around 1.5lb. barbel in commercials dont have the same class as ones from a river and seem to lose quite a bit of there golden colour, all the ones ive had have nearly been silver. still beautiful fish though and mean scrappers.

airator peg on poplars is better for barbel than alders. There big fookers aswel , up to 6lb ,cant remember what number. Fear for your pole!!!!

Oaks- cedar, peg 65, I caught two in the margins on corn today. They fight like hell but dont look as nice as a river barbel, I like the brown tinge that river barbel have :D

The place was dead mate, There was me and my mate on cedar and another three people.  Weather wise we did well, a couple of light showers but nothing like what guisborough got! sun was out alot and I was in a t-shirt for a while :)

Fishing was great, had 30 carp to 5lb (common, mirrow and f1's), 2 barbel and a lone ide.

Ellerton lakes near catterick, Barbel corner near the caravan park, i've had some nice sized barbel from there, good fighters too.
