Just joined Thornaby AC. I used to be a member of Yarm but let my membership slip and its a bit expensive to rejoin. I can't find any info on the website about fish size in the ponds. Can anyone give me a rough idea of fish stocks and size in the three ponds? Has anyone fished the one at Norton? It looks tiny on the picture but i'm particularly interested in the Crucian Carp there. Anyone know what size they go and if they ever get caught?
Cheers..

Nice fish mate! Cheers for that. I had no idea Ascott had 25lb Carp in it! Might have to have a bash with the rod pod
. Nortons only a foot deep? Sounds like it needs digging out. How does anything survive the winter? More of a puddle really

Do you know what Gilling West is like Mick? It looks lovely on the pictures, bit of a trek to get there though.

Gilling has just been restocked with a shed load of bream some 7 and 8lb but i dont fish it that much to be honest, it hasnt been fishing well of late but thats prob down to spawning and they have been reports of dead bream on the banks so they may be a otter problem but its more likely a mink we hope, the top pond there mill lake has been fishing really well to lads on the fly with lads pulling out 30plus trout a day up to 5lb, it is a hike as you say but its probaly worth a go now as the spawning has finished, for me this will be my last weekend on the ponds for a long time as the rivers are about to open and thats where im happiest cant wait to get back to croft for some massive perch and sockburn for the chub and barbel,

Yeh i think i'll be on the river next week, probably Croft. Not sure whether to go after the Pike (i've seen the pictures of the huge 20's getting caught there) or maybe go after the Chub, Perch ect. Cant wait!
