Catterick Lakes
« on: May 19, 2006, 10:54:09 pm »
Sorry I have not had time to update over the last nine months I've been in hospital for major surgery three times, however enough of that .

To answer one of the questions about not getting the yearbooks it is because there was an Extra ordanary AGM and the books were not able to be printed until it was all resolved. also over the last few weeks the computer has been down.

We have put another 1000 new carp in the match lake and the lake is now fishing very well with bags of over 100lb.  kengales from Darlington had 126lb of carp to 6lb off peg 35 and Brian Okeeffe had 104lb peg 34. Last Wednesdays match was win by Brian Havalock with 54lb and Tommy Wilson second with 10-common carp for 46lb off peg 31. I was a poor third with 36lb.

The big carp have not shown yet in Copley or Howe Lakes but last week there were two 17's and a 19lb mirroor. Hoever there have been some big roach catches from Howe Specimen Carp Lake with fish up to 2lb.

Hall lake has continued to fish well all winter with good bags of bream to 5lb and chub to 6lb.

Day Tickets £5.

hi Gus, just to get some tales from the baliff - i was wondering about the river , the section is so deep and slow, have you ever had any any surprising catchs i was thinking there could be some big fish up there like maybe escapee carp or maybe perch, pike or roach etc? just out of curiousety!

I had a cracking day on hall lake i think (silverfish) catching 37 lb of mainly bream to 4lb and 2 chub both about 3-4lb in the pouring rain! Its the only time ive caught more than several fish on the lake, im waiting for the forecast to signal haevy rain again :D

It has been posted on another forum that Leeds & District AC has now sold the Catterick Complex. To person(s) unknown, although there is a rumour that it is the Green Lane owner (just up the road). These lakes were on my list of 'places to try sometime', but there was some doubt about day tickets. Maybe they will become a fishing mecca?

These lakes were and are currently still owned by Leeds, they are currently in the process of selling up, but not all of the paperwork is complete as of yet, so if your a Leeds member you can still fish here.

The complex is being sold, but has not yet been completed. There has been a lot of agro with its sale, not sure who is set to be the new owner, but I too have heard of the fella from Green Lane. We shall see.
